The Process

47 Steps.
Zero Compromises.

From raw hide to finished piece — every PAULILY bag is a testament to patience, precision, and the belief that excellence is never accidental.

01

Material Selection

We source only full-grain leather from certified tanneries in Italy and China's Shandong province. Each hide is hand-inspected for surface consistency, grain density, and natural character.

02

Hand Cutting & Stitching

Master artisans cut each pattern by hand using traditional Chinese shears. Double-reinforced saddle stitching ensures structural integrity that outlasts machine-sewn alternatives by a factor of three.

03

Hardware & Finishing

Custom-milled brass and PVD-coated titanium hardware — designed to develop a living patina over years of use. Every clasp, every buckle, every edge is polished through seven progressive stages.

Quality Standards

What Sets Us Apart

Leather Grading

Only Grade-A full-grain leather passes our inspection. We reject 70% of sourced hides — the remaining 30% carry zero surface defects and maintain consistent grain density across the entire panel.

Stitch Count Standard

Minimum 8 stitches per inch on all structural seams. Each stitch is individually tensioned by hand — no machine variation, no weak points.

Hardware Lifecycle

All metal components tested to 50,000 cycle open/close endurance. PVD coating on titanium parts rated to retain 95% surface integrity after 5 years of daily use.

Edge Finishing

Seven progressive polishing stages from coarse deburring to mirror-burnish. No paint, no filler — the edge is the leather itself, refined to a glass-like smoothness.
